Big Apple Diner in Whitehall

On my way to Vermont I stopped with friends to have dinner and the big apple diner was on the road.The venue is ok, not a fancy place but the staff is super nice and very friendly. The food is great, we got an amazing ribeye steak with fries that was delicious. Friends ordered pie that was good.Highly recommended!

At first, I wasn't sure about the diner due to the looks of the inside, but the food was good. Service was excellent. Loved that a majority of their food was homemade including the fries and macaroni salad. Their chocolate cream pie was really good. I would definitely go there again!

Stopped tonight for dinner. Ordered the brisket special. Could not eat the brisket not could my husband. They would not discount the meal. Pd $40 + dollars for food we couldn't eat because it was spoiled

A must stop on any trip to Vermont. We always look forward to stopping for breakfast or lunch. A home town country dinner with large portions of home made favorites and great prices. Daily specials are posted on a board when you walk through the door. And great home made pies for dessert. You can't go wrong.

Food was okay. Told waitress no gravy on potatoes. Came back with tenders with gravy underneath others. Which wasn't right. Had to go to register to get ticket.

Sit yourself was fine. The server didn't get the orders right. Had to send some of the food back. It wasn't cooked as requested

I have eaten here a few times but I ordered Philly Cheese Steak and it was over cooked beyond recognition and dry. I than ordered supposedly Strawberry Rhubarb Pie except there was not Rhubarb just strawberry pie. Maybe it was a different Chef or something? I will try this only once more!

Stopped in Labor Day for lunch. Appears to be a "seat yourself " place. We sat. And we sat. Finally after 10 min of not even acknowledging our presence, we got up and left. During the 10 min we sat there, there were 4 other tables taken: two eating, one done eating clearly waiting for check, the fourth done eating and had check. The table with check finnaly tired of waiting went up and paid at counter. The only time staff came out from behind the counter in the 10 min we were there was to bring food to one table. Otherwise, none of the employees ventured out from behind the bar/counter.

Been coming here for close to 25 years now. Always a great meal and generous proportions, we sometimes need a to go box. Friendly staff, fair prices, home cooked meals and specials. The specials dont stay around long because they are so good! Hometown folks come back all of the time. Love the Big Apple!

Unpretentious, down home good diner. Comfort food galore. Food is great, service can be lacking. I had a perfectly cooked steak and cheese omelette with added onions, sourdough toast and homefries. Toast was warm and butter nicely melted. Homefries were deep fried with no seasoning whatever. They were the downside of the breakfast. When seeing Peanut Butter Pie on the board, I decided to order dessert. They were out. Oh well.

Got there at 10:50. Waited for 10-15 minutes for our menu's. 10 minutes for coffee, water and hot chocolate. 10 more minutes for us to order our food, and that took half an hour. Our waitress was very rude. Didn't really pay attention to our table. And Then when we were paying our waitress stopped in the middle of it to bring other people's food. Didn't say hold on let me bring this food to that table real quick. Just stopped! The only good waitress there was the one checking on our coffee and drinks. So she got our waitress tip. Never going back.

The omlettes are great and staff friendly! Always have a great meal here... We drive here from Rutland, VT.

If you're looking for a warm, friendly and a reasonably priced restaurant to eat as you travel on RT 4 between Whitehall NY and VT, stop by this diner. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their food is delicious.

After years of driving by this place we finally stopped in.Now we're HOOKED!Pies are good, not great. But the comfort foods are wonderful. I'm particularly grateful for the chicken and biscuits.
